Grounded in Hope, Growing with Purpose

I began using the Life Maps a few years ago as I was navigating a particularly challenging season of life. As I worked through the ‘My Life Now’ and ‘My Life Story’ Maps, God was able to show me some things about myself and some repeating life patterns that I wasn’t aware of. The resulting revelations were eye opening and as I processed through them with Mary, I gained the tools I needed to get “unstuck” from those old life patterns. I now have the perspective and insight into my story and I can choose which patterns to continue and which to let go of. I can also develop new ways of responding to events that touch my life; giving me more patience with myself and with others as we continue to write our life stories.

I highly recommend this experience as it opens your eyes to how God has worked in your past, what He is doing in the present and where He is leading you in the future. After completing my Maps, I had an appreciation for God’s faithfulness in my life experiences and an excitement for what was still to come. Mary explains the process clearly and thoroughly and also has the ability to make you feel immediately comfortable and confident with the mapping experience. I enjoyed completing my Maps in a group setting, as I learned how to truly listen to others and give them space to feel their feelings without interruption. I am so thankful to have had the opportunity to really look at my life on a deeper level and I am grateful for Mary’s sweet guidance through the process.

Being part of the Story Group was an amazing experience.  It was very humbling to share my life story with people I didn’t know. By sharing a part of my own story, I was able to acknowledge my experiences and see it through others’ eyes.  This allowed me to find peace within myself for my life and my experiences.

I was really excited about the process of doing the work, but had no idea just how much it would impact me. Though only in my 40s, I have suffered a lot of loss, and working through how those events have made me who I am was powerful. Doing story work has allowed me to see how the events of my life, as well as the home I grew up in, and the personality that God has given me, have shaped the desires and longings that I have for my life. It opened the door for God to speak to my heart and give me a picture of part of His plan for me and my life. Everyone’s story is important, and doing the story work proves that, while also showing how you can use your own story to impact others in a positive way. Mary is dedicated to helping others realize the importance of and work through the details of their own story, while also being the encourager for finishing the story work and using it to impact our world. My story matters, your story matters, and doing the story work alongside Mary will change your life through your own story!

I’ve been meeting with Mary for several months now, after some major life transitions. I needed to step back and start exploring who I am, why I am this way, and what to do with my life in light of any discoveries I make. Mary has always been so tender and encouraging, yet she challenges me. I’ve received some profound counsel by revisiting the experiences in my life that shaped me. And I love the mapping! They’re colorful, creative, and actually really fun to work on. I feel like a teenage girl again journaling about my life and seeing the Holy Spirit’s influence all along. I highly recommend Mary and the Life Map program!  We still have work to do, but I feel like I am learning more about myself than I ever have before.
