People often wonder what 'story work' is.
Simply put, our life stories are what shapes how we live in the world. Who we are, what we think, what we do and why we do it. And sometimes we get stuck in a rut and don’t know the best way to get out. I believe the answers lie in processing the stories that led us there. This is where story work comes in.
Similar to reading a book about your life.
By unpacking your story, you will find chapters filled with beautiful memories, exciting adventures, fulfilling moments of joy, and devastating loss and tragedy. The chapters of your life need to be read, seen, re-visited and restored.
Story work is the connection that leads to self awareness, reaffirming the goodness in your life, and sometimes re-writing 'old scripts' so you can break cycles of unhealthy patterns. As you desire to become a healthier version of yourself, you not only restore your own heart, but the relationships around you become healthier. It's then you experience living "fully alive".
I get the privilege of helping people better understand themselves by giving attention to their life stories through attentive listening, mapping and recommended reading & writing. These tools will help guide you through the stories that contributed to who you are today, break patterns of harm and pain, and live a more fulfilling, joyful and healthier future.
By engaging and discussing your life with a trusted guide, we will find broken, delicate and valuable pieces that create a stunning mosaic of hope and beauty. I love this quote by Dan Allender ~ "So take seriously the life God has given you to live. It's time to read your own life because your story is the one that could set us all ablaze."
With a background in psychology combined with my own personal experience processing trauma, it led me to a profound passion to help people recover by finding freedom, joy and purpose in their lives.
Over the last 2 decades I have worked with teenagers to senior adults who have been affected by many life circumstances varying from matters of individual crisis, relational breakdown, feeling stuck in life, lacking purpose in profession, and grieving loss and other personal tragedies.
Through my education, professional training, coaching and certifications in trauma-care, grief and abuse through the Allender Seattle School of Theology & Psychology and One Life Maps, I have the experience, tools and understanding to help people process their unique stories and discover true transformation.
It will take your commitment and dedication, but you’re worthy of the investment to recover what’s been lost, marred, stolen or broken. I will listen, challenge, support, guide and encourage you towards the life you were intended to live with the right tools to get you on a healthier path.
If your nutritional health is a concern to you, I help people incorporate a healthier lifestyle that has the power to prevent, treat and reverse disease. I’m certified in plant-based nutrition through eCornell and T. Colin Campbell Nutritional Studies. If you are looking for simple ways to adjust your nutrition and eating habits, I can offer help through recipes, alternative food choices, supplementation suggestions, and a variety of tips and ideas that could help make the changes you’re looking for.
I'm married to my husband of 24 years, have two adult children (and a dog named Peaches that we all adore). I enjoy the outdoors, photography, biking, creating healthy recipes and spending time with family and friends. I make it my goal to live my life loving God and others.
